Plaque is a clear, sticky substance that builds up on your teeth as the bacteria in your mouth interact with the foods and drinks you consume. It exposes your smile to harmful acids, and if you’re not careful, plaque hardens into tartar and leads to cavities and perhaps even gum disease. Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day
A good oral hygiene routine is perhaps the most important way to stop plaque from building up on your teeth. Here are some tips to help you derive the greatest benefits possible from your brushing:

- Use gentle strokes — you don’t want to accidentally damage your tooth enamel.
