How long is Invisalign treatment?

Although the average treatment time with Invisalign is 6 to 18 months, every patient is different. In addition, your treatment time will depend on your specific orthodontic needs and how you care for your aligners. Patients who do not wear their aligners for 22 hours a day may have a longer treatment.

When will I see results from tooth whitening treatment?

Typically, patients will see an immediate change in their smile after our in-office treatments. It may take several weeks for patients to see results from take-home treatment. However, take-home treatment benefits patients who have increased tooth sensitivity and want to whiten teeth in the comfort of their own homes.

How long do dental veneers last?

Patients must ensure they want to cover their teeth with porcelain veneers. We prepare the tooth enamel for veneers, which means that patients must be committed to this cosmetic treatment for many years. During preparation, we etch into the tooth enamel to prevent bulkiness. Typically, veneers last 15 or more years with the right care. Patients must continue flossing and brushing veneers and natural teeth to keep the veneers bright.

What can I do if I have tough tooth stains?

We recommend dental veneers or tooth bonding treatment for patients with intrinsic stains. Intrinsic stains are stains within the tooth. Typically, patients with tooth chips or wear can expose the dentin underneath their outer tooth enamel. This dark dentin can discolor teeth. Patients with intrinsic stains do not react to professional whitening treatment.

Dental veneers or tooth bonding treatments can cover these stains and blend in with the shape and shade of other natural teeth. Veneers can address all of the teeth in the smile line, while we recommend bonding for one or several teeth.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign treatment?

We recommend Invisalign treatment for teenagers and adults. Younger patients may not have many of their permanent teeth for Invisalign treatment. Patients with moderate to severe orthodontic problems are better suited to treatment with metal braces.

Invisalign patients have mild to moderate issues, including crooked teeth, a misaligned bite, or slight tooth gaps. It is also much easier for teenagers and adults to care for their removable aligners. Patients must remove their aligners to eat and clean their smiles.
